Ms. Newman has been an art teacher at Prairie Ridge for 11 years. She holds her bachelor's degree in Art Education from the University of Kansas and a masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Baker University.  She received the Kansas Horizon Award in 2014, Teacher of Excellence  award in 2015 and 2019 and was nominated for Kansas Teacher of the Year in 2020 and 2023.  She absolutely loves teaching art to kids and fostering an environment where all feel safe to express themselves and create. She enjoys cooking,  hiking, cycling, yoga, and working with abstract watercolor and mixed media collage in her free time.
